More Straws, and Democrat Leadership Complicit in Torture

First, an update regarding the decision I'll announce on or after December 18.

The Libertarian National Committee- the leadership of the Libertarian Party- voted today to ask Ron Paul to seek the Libertarian Party nomination for President. The vote was unanimous- and if you've ever dealt with Libertarians, you know how improbable getting fifteen of them to agree on anything is.

Furthermore, in a SECOND unanimous vote, the LNC authorized use of its "Ballot Base" database system to the Ron Paul campaign in New Hampshire. In plain terms, this is giving Ron Paul the LP mailing list in New Hampshire- plus the employees and volunteers who maintain the database.

Taken together, these two votes amount to a de facto nomination of Paul as the Libertarian candidate for President... whether or not he wants the nomination.

But that's not the biggest news today, not by a long shot. That honor belongs to the Washington Post, which reported today that Democratic Party Congressional leadership, including Nancy Pelosi, knew of waterboarding and other tortures in 2002...

... before Bush actually began using them.

That's right- Bush's CIA, by law, had to tell Congressional leaders of its intention to use what Bush and Fox News euphemistically call "enhanced/harsh interrogation techniques" BEFORE they put them in practice.

And here's the money quote:

Pelosi declined to comment directly on her reaction to the classified briefings. But a congressional source familiar with Pelosi's position on the matter said the California lawmaker did recall discussions about enhanced interrogation. The source said Pelosi recalls that techniques described by the CIA were still in the planning stage -- they had been designed and cleared with agency lawyers but not yet put in practice -- and acknowledged that Pelosi did not raise objections at the time.

Well, now we know why Pelosi took impeachment off the table... she, and other Democrats, were complicit in Bush's war crimes.

Again I say, put not your faith in Democrats.

(And I'm going to suggest a bumper sticker to a friend of mine who makes them: IMPEACH PELOSI, THEN CHENEY, THEN BUSH.)
