Survey USA Poll: Texas is In Play... if Obama is Nominated

Burnt Orange Report has the story.

Survey USA poll on November matchups:

MCCAIN 47%, OBAMA 46%

MCCAIN 49%, CLINTON 42%

Interesting point: racial breakdown, black v. Latino...

BLACK TEXAS VOTE:

CLINTON 69%, MCCAIN 10%, UNDECIDED 21%
OBAMA 89%, MCCAIN 5%, UNDECIDED 7%

LATINO TEXAS VOTE:

CLINTON 61%, MCCAIN 34%, UNDECIDED 6%
OBAMA 57%, MCCAIN 35%, UNDECIDED 8%

In other words, Obama still has the Latino vote for the most part... but Clinton has lost a significant chunk of the black vote, possibly as much as 15%.

What this tells me is this: Clinton won in Texas on the back of Rush Limbaugh Republicans and white racists. Those groups will vote for McCain... but Obama pulls in most of the rest of Clinton's voters in the general election, which would not work the other way for her.

If I weren't saving up now for a major business expense in April and a dental visit ASAfiscallyP, I'd be donating more to Obama right now...

... especially since the New Republic reports Michigan about to announce a re-vote...

... by CAUCUS.

Which means the WORST Obama will do is 45% (as in Nevada), and more likely a clear victory, should it come to pass...

7 points is close enough that it would be in play if Hillary was nominated too.

There was a poll last week that showed Hillary within 4 points of McCain in the general in Texas (50-46), while Obama was 7 points back (49-42 or something like that).

It's a great year to be a Democrat in Texas!
