No Superdelegate Surge

Various sources have reported the rumor that Barack Obama was preparing to announce a bloc of fifty superdelegates moving to support him.

From Politico.com's story on Ohio superdelegates trying to make a deal:

Democratic officials said Tuesday that the Obama campaign planned to unveil the support of 50 new superdelegates Wednesday. No such announcement came Wednesday, but several Obama backers said that such a plan had, in fact, been in the works. Rep. Jan Schakowsky (D-Ill.) said Wednesday morning that she thought the plan was “going forward” but added that she had yet to check in with the campaign.

Well, today the Obama campaign denied the rumor, according to Talking Points Memo.

This is just a rumor. There is no secret stash of superdelegates that we are sitting on waiting to roll out.

My answer: well, of COURSE there isn't NOW...
